NORTH, Frederick, Second Earl of Guilford (1732-1792). Prime Minister 1770-1782.
Document Signed, 1 page folio (oblong) on vellum, partially printed, with blue revenue stamps, Whitehall, 1 August 1777. Signed also by two others. Appointing John Grundy of Spalding as Receiver General of parts of Lincolnshire in respect of the Land Tax.
A Land Tax was imposed between 1692 and 1831, and was made perpetual in 1797. The usual rate was 4 shillings in the pound.
