ROTHENSTEIN, Sir John Knewstub Maurice (1901-1992). Art historian & administrator. Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs Daisy Drinkwater, widow of the poet, 4 pages 8vo, The Athenaeum, 25 March [1937]. A letter of sympathy on the death of her husband. '... I remember him so clearly, in the days before 'Lincoln' was written, & its being read by him at our house at Oakridge. ... All my memories of him (like those of every friend he had) are memories of kindness; I shall miss him very very deeply. When I last saw him, only a few weeks ago at the Marsh dinner he was in splendid spirits. ...'Drinkwater's play Abraham Lincoln was produced in 1918 to great acclaim both in London and New York.
