SOANE, Sir John (1753-1837). Architect.
Autograph Letter Signed to Henry Dundas (later first Viscount Melville), at this time Secretary of War, 1 page 4to, hinged to a mount, Lincoln's Inn Fields, 22 April 1799. Written during the prolonged and, for Soane, rather lucrative period during which he was archiect to the Bank of England, asking for an urgent appointment to explain himself.
'I have great reason to fear my conduct has been materially misrepresented to you; I am extremely anxious to have it properly understood & therefore take the liberty to request the honor of a few minutes conversation on the subject ...'
