Autograph Letter Signed to Lord Mountstuart (1744-1814, later first marquess of Bute), 2 pages 4to (slightly trimmed at the foot) with endorsed leaf, Florence 24 June 1782. Promising to give every attention to Count Brusaque and his lady, commenting on Countess Colloredo ('much retired') and conveying the latest news.

'... Nothing has occured here worth your Lordship's attention, the Great Duke has this morning performed the usual ceremony of receiving the Homage of the subaltern Towns and Feudatarys of this Dutchy.
 'Captain Parkes and Jespersen commanders of two stout vessels which I sent lately from Leghorn for Gibraltar have taken two french vessels in their way thither, one of which arrived at Leghorn last week.
 'I may venture to assure your Lordship that a Russian fleet of twenty ships of the Line will appear at Leghorn early in the autumn and that unless some considerable change happens in the mean time, publick affairs will take a very different aspect.'
