LONGFELLOW, Henry Wadsworth (1807-1882). Poet. Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, 3 pages 8vo in the usual pale brown ink, Bowness, Windermere, 9 June 1868. Thanking him for a letter and invitation, explaining that he was travelling with his three daughters, and commenting on the beauty of the Lake district. 'When off Queenstown I had the pleasure of receiving your friendly letter and invitation, for both of which I cordially thank you. They were my first welcome to England; and I assure you it would ne most agreeable to me to accept your hospitality if it were in my power so to do. But I have my three daughters with me; and I shall be obliged, on reaching London, to look for some lodgings in South Kensington, near my sister-in-law, who is expecting us, and has the first claim upon me.
