FRANKLIN, Sir John (1786-1847). Arctic explorer.
Document Signed as Lieutenant-Governor of Van Diemen's Land, 1 page folio (oblong) on vellum with embossed paper seal, countersigned by John Montagu, 14 July 1841. Extending a pardon to Mary Jenkins, commited to life transportation in 1831, and allowing her to remain in Van Diemen's Land or its dependencies.
The document is partially printed and completed by hand, with Mary Jenkins's personal details cross-written across the face.
