PHILLIPPS, Sir Thomas (1792-1872). Antiquary and bibliophile. Characteristically slovenly and curmudgeonly Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Collett, 2½ pages 16mo (rather soiled), 'Th' [Thirlestaine House, Cheltenham], 2 September 1870. Complaining of his ill-treatment by a box-maker. '... You have sent me keys that will not open or lock the Boxes.There is no mention of a Collett in the index to the five volumes of Phillipps Studies by A.N.L. Munby. The date '1871' has been supplied in pencil by a later hand, but Phillipps himself certain wrote '70'. [No: 21590] The image is of the first page only.
