Autograph Letter Signed to to an unnamed correspondent (signature cut out), 1 page 8vo, Abbotsford 'friday night', no date. Referring to an opportunity that has arisen of getting his son 'a troop', and asking for a cheque for £350 'and the balance in cash'

Scott's son Walter (1801-1847) chose the army for his profession although his father would have preferred the Bar.
